Food for the soul at Cafe des Amis in the heart of Paia.
Cafe des Amis restaurant in Paia offers a unique charm and atmosphere in this old plantation town. Situated the north shore of the beautiful Hawaiian island of Maui, Paia flourished alongside the sugarcane industry which bought wealth to the island in the late 1800’s.
Following a decline in the fortunes of the sugarcane business Paia was ‘discovered’ in the 1970’s. It quickly became host to an influx of surfers and windsurfers from the world over and its fortunes revitalised.
Nowadays Paia is much more than just a surfer’s town. It is home to a thriving community of residents, restaurants, cafés, massage and tattoo parlours, yoga shalas and much more. It has also become a meeting place for the diverse population of this beautiful island and to its visitors.
Paia also has the unique honour of being home to The Maui Dharma Center. The Great Paia Lha Bab Peace Stupa which stands at its gateway was consecrated by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in April 2007.
The menu offers two distinct cuisines. Our crepes and the appetizers offer an authentic taste of France and the Mediterranean. Our delicious curries offer the genuine taste of Indian home cooking.
